How to Add a Mini Blog Post to Your Google Business Profile

0:00 To add a mini blog post (also known as an update) to your Google Business Profile, log into your account and scroll down to find the Posts section.

0:11 Click on “View All” and you’ll see three options:

  • Add Update – A mini blog post
  • Add Offer – Use this for promotions, discounts, etc.
  • Add Event – Great for webinars, openings, or special occasions

Types of Posts

0:18 An Update acts like a mini blog post. An Offer includes title, dates, details, voucher codes, and optional links. An Event includes date, time, and location.

Posting Frequency & Strategy

0:32 Google prefers regular posting. Aim to post once per week to keep your profile fresh and increase engagement.

0:47 The added benefit of weekly posts is the ability to link back to your website — driving traffic and improving local SEO.

What to Post

0:57 Focus on your services and their relevant locations. Examples:

  • “Plumbing services in York”
  • “Emergency plumbing repair in London”
  • “Boiler repair in Brighton”

How to Structure the Post

  • Title: Include the name of the service and location
  • Description: Write a short paragraph describing what the service is and why it’s needed. Include the service keyword and location
  • CTA Button: Choose “Learn More” or another relevant option
  • URL: Link to the specific service or product page (not your homepage)
  • Image: Add a relevant image to make the post stand out

Example Workflow

1:36 If you’re writing a post about “24-Hour Emergency Plumbing Repair,” the post should:

  1. Use that phrase in the title and description
  2. Mention the location (e.g. Brighton or London)
  3. Link back to the specific 24-hour plumbing repair page on your website

Final Tips

2:00 These posts are short and don’t need to be overcomplicated. What matters is consistency, keyword inclusion, and linking to the correct landing pages.

2:18 Posting once or twice a week is ideal. Focus on quality and SEO relevance over quantity.
